Author Guidelines

Submission

Submitted manuscripts are processed with the understanding that they are not under review by other journals, have not been published in nor accepted for publication by other journals, nor have substantial overlaps with published reports. The corresponding author takes responsibility for the article throughout the submission and peer review process.

Manuscript types

  • Original research article: This includes reports of data from the original research study (original article not more than 3500 words).
  • Short communication [articles in brief] (original article not more than 1500 words).
  • Review article: Comprehensive description of any education-related subject within the scope of the journal. The two types of review articles can be accepted including long (not more than 5000 words) and short reviews (not more than 2500 words).
  • Case report: A report of cases that are related to or discuss educational problems can be considered for publication.
  • Letter to the Editor: It could include any of the following:  a fundamental re-discussion and re-analysis of an already published article, or a fundamental response from the authors of the original publication.

Covering letter

All the submitted manuscripts must be accompanied by a cover letter including title and author(s) name(s) and exclusively indicate that the manuscript has not been published or under review elsewhere.

File formats

The manuscript files should be in MS Word and the graphs in MS Excel. The images must be sent with high resolution (600 dpi or more) in JPEG, RTF, TIFF, GIF, PDF, or PSD format.

Research formatted according to the following specifications

Page size: A4

Text Font (Garamond), size (12) for text, main titles (size 14 Bold), subtitles (size 12 Bold)

Tables text (size 10)

Margin (Normal)

Manuscript preparation

The submitted manuscripts should have the following sections:

First (title) page

The first page should contain:

a)  The article title.

b)  Full names (first names; middle-name initials, if applicable; and last names) of all authors.

c)  Their affiliations; d) a short-running title of not more than 40 characters (including spaces).

d)  The name and contact details of the corresponding author.

e)  Any potential conflict of interest or any source of financial support should also be disclosed on this page.

Second page

The second page should contain the abstract and keywords:

Abstract

It should be structured and contains:

  • Background, explaining why the study was done.
  • Objective, stating explicitly the specific objectives of this research.
  • Methods, explaining how the study was conducted.
  • Results, presenting the main findings.
  • Conclusion, describing the main points and potential implications.

Minimize the use of abbreviations and do not cite references in the Abstract. The Abstract length should not be more than 250 words.

Keywords

Provide Three to Five relevant keywords.

Other pages

The text should have the following sections: Introduction (including objectives), Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, if necessary, and References.

Tables:

  • All tables should be written at the end of the paper (after the list of references).
  • Tables should be self-explanatory and should not duplicate textual material. 
  • Tables are to be numbered using Arabic numerals.
  • Tables should always be cited in the text in consecutive numerical order.
  • For each table, please supply a table title explaining the components of the table.
  • Identify any previously published material by giving the source in the form of a reference at the end of the table title.
  • Explain in footnotes all non-standard abbreviations that are used in each table, significance values, and other statistical data (use the following symbols, in this sequence: *, **, †, ‡, ††, ‡‡, §).

Figures:

  • Figures should be of high-quality artwork and mounted on separate pages.
  • The legend should be placed below.
  • The same data should not be presented in tables, fig­ures, and text, simultane­ously.

References:

The authors are responsible for the accuracy of the References provided. References must be numbered consecutively in order of citation in the text with DOI if available. References in the text should appear as superscript Arabic numerals.

Personal communications and unpublished data including manuscripts submitted but not yet accepted for publication should not be used as a reference.

Inclusive page numbers should be given for all references.

Print the surnames and initials of all authors when there are four or fewer. In the case of five or more authors, the names of the first three authors followed by et al should be listed.

Abbreviations:

Abbreviations should be defined at first mention and used consistently thereafter.

Questionnaires:

Authors are encouraged to publish their questionnaires as appendices.

Ethical Considerations

Submitted articles involving research subjects (e.g. patients, learners, junior members of faculty) must have been conducted within the guidelines of the Declaration of Helsinki (https://www.wma.net/policies-post/wma-declaration-of-helsinki-ethical-principles-for-medical-research-involving-human-subjects/). Authors should provide: The name of the institutional ethics committee and its IRB together with ethics approval reference Number, or a statement from the committee explaining why ethics approval is not required where this applies.
