An enrichment program based on self-regulated Learning and its effectiveness in developing analytical reading skills of literary texts among middle school students

Abstract

The research aims to develop the analytical reading skills of literary texts among first-year middle school students, and to reveal the effectiveness of an enriching program based on self-regulated learning in developing the analytical reading skills of literary texts among the research group. The research group consisted of a random group of first-year middle school students. The program was taught in a full semester. The research used the descriptive approach in terms of literature and previous studies, and used the experimental approach through the quasi-experimental design. The research used the following tools for experimentation and measurement: A list of appropriate analytical reading skills to be developed among first-year middle school students, a test of analytical reading skills, preparing teacher worksheets, preparing students' worksheets to train on the skills specified in the research. The measurement tools were applied before and after, and the research hypotheses were verified. The results proved the effectiveness of the enrichment program based on self-regulated learning in developing the analytical reading skills of literary texts among first-year middle school students, the research group.
